How to apply voter ID card from home in 2022

Voter id card issued by election commission of India is a law for the citizen of India after achieving the age of 18 . This card is commonly known as an Election Card , Voter’s card , Voter Id , etc. . Moreover , Voter Id is also a proof of an identity and should be with everyone . Earlier , it was easy to apply for Voter Id card only in during prior election . Now Election Commission has made it easier to apply for Voter Id card . 



Apply for online Voter Id card at Home 

If you are adult and 18+ you have right to vote and have right to choose capable candidate for Country and State . This right can be exercised by every citizen of any caste , religion or any economic background . 

For online enrolment  process you have to go to the homepage and official website of Election Commission of India (ECI)https://www.mpnrc.org/nvsp-portal-login-voter-id-registration-track-status/. Website show every information regarding Voter Id card . It has a basic guidelines for Voter’s and various application form registering Voters card . Voter would have to select and fill the form according to their designation and should select the form for new voter application . 


First of all you have to find and select the National voters service portal on the homepage of ECI website . Then , select ‘ National Service ‘ and click on apply online on form 6 for new voter Id , which will take you to the application form that you need to fill . 



The steps to register online application process of form 6 :

Step 1 – Go to the official website of the Election Commission of India .

Step 2 – Now , go to National voter service portal https://www.nvsp.in/

Step 3 – Go to “ Apply online  registration  of new voter Id “ .

Step 4 – Enter details and upload the documents that is required..

Step 5 – Now, submit

  • After submitting , you will be receiving an email that has been provided in your details .
  • Track your application with your voter Id
  • Your Voter ID card will be sent to you in a month anytime after personal verification.



The Voter ID application form or the Form 6 is an extensive form that collects all necessary details of the applicant. 

The first section  will require details like:

  • Name of the applicant in English and also in your state’s regional language. 
  •  You can select your gender from drop- down menu.
  • The applicant's birth details like date of birth (DOB), place of birth(state/district/province/town)
  • Name of the applicant's husband or father /mother or wife along with surname  and Mention the applicant's relationship with him/her in English language.

 Details needed in the second section are:

  • House number (optional)
  • Street, road, locality, or area name. 
  •  The applicant must mention the village or town name and the name of local post office.
  •  Pin code
  •  District name 
  •  Mobile number 
  • Email Id 

 Documents required

  • Recent passport size photographs
  • Address proof (any one of the following)- Copy of your Passport / Gas bill / Water bill / Ration Card / Bank Passbook / Aadhaar Card
  • Copy of proof of age  i.e.10th Standard Certificate / Birth Certificate / Pan Card / Aadhaar Card / Driving   Licence / Copy of Passport / Kisan Card
  • Identity proof (any one of the following)-Pan Card / Driving Licence / Ration Card / Passport Copy / Bank Passbook with  Photograph / Student ID Card / Aadhaar Card.                                                                                                                                                                                                         The next section contains  information about the applicant's family members who have also applied for Voter ID card from the same constituency. The details  in this section need-
  • Name of the family member.
  • The applicant's relationship with the family member – Mother/Father/Husband/Wife.
  • The same constituency as of family members'.
  •  The family members' number of the Voter ID card.
  • Same electoral roll as provided. 
  • Documents – ID proof, address proof and photograph 



The Election Commission of India’s Electoral Verification Program has now allowed individuals to correct any errors in their voter ID cards .Errors in spelling or incorrect names can now be corrected online. Voters who find that their name has been misspelt or is wrong can now correct their name easily from correction in the voter ID card

  • Visit FORM-8 Application for Correction to Particulars Entered in Electoral.
  • Enter the required details of State and Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency, name, part number of electoral roll, serial number, gender, and age, family details, complete address etc and submit it.
  • Select the details that need to be corrected/changed  and click on ‘My Name’ to correct only the name in your voter ID
  • Enter name of the city, date of request, and contact information
  • Verify all the information and then click on Submit documents required to verify corrections in voter ID card.
  • For verification and correction of name, upload a document where the name is written correctly i.e. passport, PAN card or any of the other official document.  
  • In case  of changing name, upload official proof or copy of the government gazette.  
  • For verification of address the following documents are valid as proof such as; Aadhaar card, driving licence, passport, ration card, government officials can use their ID card, bank passbook, farmer’s ID card. PAN card, latest water, electricity, telephone and  gas bill can also be used as proof of address .

Once the entire process is completed, a reference number will be generated  and  you can track easily the status of application online through the website of the Chief Electoral Officer for your State or Union Territory. It usually takes between 2 to 3 weeks to receive the voter ID card after sent for verification.



The process of Aadhar-voter ID card linking is also referred as EPIC (Electoral Photo Identification Card)-Aadhar Linking. This exercise to link Aadhar card to voter id will help to link Mobile No. and Email of a voter with Voter id. Nowadays it is so easy to make E-cards issued by government of India and you may receive voter slip through Mobile in next few years.


     If you choose to link your Aadhar card to a voter ID card through the website, you need to log in to the official website of National Voters’ Service Portal Or the link    https://cleartax.in/s/link-aadhaar-voter-id


Step 1- Enter your personal details into that website or you can just enter your voter ID or EPIC number to that website and need to click on 'Search'

Step 2- Now,You will get an option to ' link Aadhar No.'. Please make sure that the pop up option of your web browser is enabled before you click “link Aadhaar No.".

Step 3- After clicking 'link Aadhar No,' a pop-up window will open. 

Step 4- Now, You need to enter your name, Aadhar number, mobile number, email ID, and EPIC number ( Voter Id Number )

Step 5- Confirmation sms will received on the mobile no. That you have linked.


Once your Aadhar is linked, you will be informed via sms of confirmation. Every Indian citizen must have voter ID card as a proof of citizenship of a country.
